Welcome to the Party!

2013

2013 – Can’t Wait to Get Our Hands Dirty!

2013!

Happy New Year! 2012 has the distinction of being our best year to date! Of course, one could load on the significance – it was our tenth season, after 2011 we deserved a great year, etc. The truth is that we had the perfect storm of all the big players: full CSA, best seeds sourced from seed savers, excellent work force, dedicated customers, dry hot summer = delicious, flavor-packed produce… I’ll take it! 2012 will remain in my heart as a year to remember. So… what does that mean for 2013?

We are ready for a repeat, and we are planning accordingly: seed list as inspiring if not more so, incredible relationships with all of our accounts, weeding plan coming together, Spring bedding plant list tweaked to fill the requests from last year, and so much more! We are happy to be placing our seed orders this week, finishing up our meetings with our chefs, and we have a huge bullseye on the week of March 11th – the week we fire up the greenhouses!

Winter Farmers’ Market

Spencer at the Winter Farmers' Market

Spencer at the Winter Farmers’ Market

We are really enjoying cooking for everyone at the Burlington Farmers’ Market this winter! We visited family in Denver this winter and were reminded just how pervasive the smothered breakfast burrito is there! They are everywhere and available at all times – you can rest assured that Half Pint Farm’s Colorado Style Burritos are indeed authentic! We have added some new and exciting options to our menu this season – Inside Out Burrito, NEW this week: tacos (beef & chicken), and nutritional information for those who desire it! Another take-away from Colorado this trip was Cafe de Olla! A lovely spiced coffee that we have been serving weekly as well. For a full menu check HERE the day before market! Remember that this is the only place in town that you can get homemade flour AND corn tortillas to take home, and they are used in all our dishes – come hungry on market day, we’re happy to cook for you!

Posole Class!

For all of you that have experienced our posole, corn and flour tortillas – or those of you that are excited about taking a class that focuses on authentic, delicious Mexican food taught by me – then you’re in luck! I will be teaching a class on Wednesday, March 6th from 6-7:30pm through City Market. We will cover all of the steps, ingredients, sources of ingredients for the posole, and while it is simmering away, we will learn how to make corn and flour tortillas. This class is great for gluten free (GF) folks, as posole is entirely GF if you use corn tortillas! RSVP HERE - this class will fill up quickly, so be sure to sign up soon!

Half Pint Farm Food Club Bags

One of our most favorite things in the whole world is our Food Club, the Half Pint Farm CSA. Our CSA allows us to flex our muscles and share all of our specialty veggies through our foodie lens. We love to cook and share, and our Food Club allows us the opportunity to share our farm with fellow foodies! Our CSA is great for people who like to cook inspiring meals, host dinner parties, or simply like the highest quality specialty produce. Your Food Club membership includes access to our flower and herb gardens, because we believe the table you eat at should be beautiful and that fresh herbs can make almost any dish – you have access to all the major culinary herbs at the farm on pick-up day. Our membership is $580 for 20 weeks. It is an incredible value, and we hope you will join us this year! Click HERE to look at the application.  Space is limited – sign up early!

Cozy Dining Spot…

While we are planning away, receiving packages of seeds and enjoying the company of friends and dogs, we hope this missive finds you in a similar position, enjoying the snow, friends, family and beloved pets in the best snuggle-down weather we’ve had in a while! We hope to see you at Farmers’ Market this winter, and we cannot wait to see you at the farm or at the park this summer!
